Hi,

It makes good sense to me that the Steering Committee be able to ask the
Founders for assistance when needed.  I do wonder whether we need to state
this in a formal way since it sounds like that's already happening, and
Concept 3 does say the right of decision makes effective leadership
possible, so asking the Founders for permission fits right in with this
concept.  If the group does think a formal statement is needed, I like what
Jerry suggested because it will cover more types of situations in the
future:

"When there are vacancies on the Steering Committee the duties normally
assigned to that vacated position are to be assigned by the SC to another
SC member, or, when necessary, to another experienced ASP member, that
member becoming a temporary SC member with voice and vote"

If the idea behind having a statement is that the SC should only be asking
the Founders for help, I would not be in favor of that.  I do think that
whenever possible, having more people in service is a good thing.
