Thank you, Alison, for volunteering for this position.

I appreciate your position on anonymity and gossiping. While I've never 
been the subject of gossiping within the group, I have been the hearer, 
and it made me very uncomfortable. I've also felt guilty, as I didn't 
know if there was a correct protocol to follow when one becomes aware 
that one member is gossiping about another (so I kept quiet about it). I 
can say equivalently that it such behavior damages three people: the 
person gossiping (even if they don't realize it), the person hearing the 
gossip and the person about whom the gossip is being spread. I have to 
admit that this experience has caused my reduced participation, both in 
the group and with my former sponsor. I've never known how to deal with 
this, as I'm normally not a tattler. Thank you again Alison, both for 
volunteering and for bringing up this important issue.
