I agree that it's important to allow our trusted servants to do their jobs
without unnecessary interference.  We need to allow the flexibility to deal
with unforeseen circumstances in a timely manner.

In my years in ASP I have noticed that steering committee members are
almost always serving in multiple roles.  I find this very intimidating
when I consider volunteering to do service in this group.  I am hesitant to
volunteer in the first place because my health and energy levels are
unpredictable.  I would hate to get myself into an obligation I couldn't
meet.  I would dread a position where I might feel stuck doing more than I
expected.

I don't have any great solutions to propose but I do think it's important
to honor our trusted servants and avoid weighing them down with precise,
inflexible requirements.
