We had to start somewhere.  It was a long time coming but the Global Electronic Area is a giant step in the right direction.  However, as it is now, it is far too large and cumbersome to run efficiently or affectively.

The F2F Al-anon service structure with Groups to Districts to Areas to WSC has stood the test of time.   I believe that finding a plan to create Districts within the GEA is the first step in making it a vital, contributing member in the Worldwide Al-Anon Fellowship.   It seems to me that the first factors we must address are time zones and language.  There can't meaningful participation when Assemblies are held at 3 in the morning for a portion of the delegates.  There can't be meaningful participation when it is difficult or impossible for some delegates to understand or contribute to what is being said because of limitations by language without adequate translation.   Once these basic things are ironed out, then we can begin to address the different formats of meetings within each district.

This is not going to be an immediate once and done solution but an ongoing and evolving process.  I think it is extremely exciting to an Al-Anon member today and have the privilege to be involved as Al-Anon history is made.
